What would you do?
We have declined an invitation to a firework party tonight which has been brought forward because of the lockdown There will be at least 20 people there, friends and extended family and a niece & family are going. There will be food and a lot of drink. Its in a large area where technically social distancing could take place, but it will not, I know that for sure, and am fairly sure no masks will be worn either. This gathering is against the Law in our area, I have checked on the Gov website by post code. They live on a hill and a bonfire and fireworks will be seen for literally miles. I’ve told the host why we are not going (illegal) and they could get a fine, and all those at the party a fine too. They are not a bit concerned and just poo poo it like it will not happen to them.
Should I just let them get on with it? Not my Problem after all? Or should I nod a wink to the local Bobbie (yes we have one) to go have a ‘quiet word’ before they actually get started? If I do this though they will probably put 2 & 2 together whose dobbed them in and I do not want to fall out with them.
It makes me very angry that people are flaunting the rules, while others can’t even have a Wake for their departed family member.

Barry, Goodmorning. I went to report the party around 7pm using the 101 chat on my local Police website page, as advised, only to find they close at 6pm. The front desk for 101 calls was also closed. I did not feel comfortable calling 999 so just left it. Apparently, there were around 15 people there, quite a few declining to go but still illegal. There was a massive bonfire and I'm surprised no one phoned the Fire Service, but they got away with it. Both OH and I told them straight what we thought, maybe some of it sunk in, maybe they will not have the Christmas party they are thinking of organising. I won't hold my breath though.

That is dreadful service from the police. Our police live chat is open 8am until midnight and the 101 phone service is 24 hour, which is what I would expect.

Yes Barry - Apparently in County Durham you can do what you like after 6pm and at weekends.

Aunt Polly there's some people who are just plain antagonists , I've read them commenting on our local online newspaper ,even putting a laughing emoji next to their answers of " I'll do as I want to and stuff the virus" I quit answering as people like those up the hill from you and those in our local rag are eejits and have no conscience x

Bobbisox, I am using the 'block' facility more and more because I can't cope with those obnoxious, arrogant idiots and don't want to read their comments.

APG, I would make a formal complaint to the Chief Constable as it is essential to be able to call the police 24/7 without dialling 999.

Bobbisox I know they just laugh. None of them have been directly affected (yet) by the virus either medically or financially so maybe they may change their minds should that happened.
BTW they are not neighbours - they live about 5 miles from us on a different farm- but only about half a mile from the village. I have no idea why no one reported the bonfire, it was massive - great big lumps of railway sleepers looking at the pics on FB.

APG, the six o'clock is for online reports. The website says,

I did not want to use the phone lines, though when I read the info it said that 101 front desk calls were only manned until 6pm
