cd player says "no disk"

i have a sony cd player and when i try and play a cd it clicks a bit then says "no disk". does anyone know if this is a major fault or if its easy to fix? just trying to ascertain if its worth getting fixed finacially wise

Is this a home recorded disc as sometimes they are not recognised.

have tried several disks and they are all shop purchased ones
