Not for Christmas , it's too early but I've hung curtain lights at my floor to ceiling window, they look lovely twinkling in the nearly dusk , making this lock down all the more bearable

retro, after you polish it, wipe it over with a really think coating od this stuff then buff it well. It puts an invisible coating of neutral wax on the item and you won't have to polish again for ages. Its really good stuff on any metal. Amazon.com User Recommendati on

Good idea Bobbie. I inherited my uncle's Davy Lamp when he was a Fireman down the pits in the Valleys. They had a self igniter with a lighter flint and were kinda more special than those of the pit face workers.I agonised if I should cut the wick holder out and replace it with a small mains bulbholder with a flickering candle bulb. I couldn't get replacement wicks for it and no genuine lamp oil in these parts so I 'butchered it'. Glad I did. It looks great flickering in our sitting room but the brass could do with a bit of Solvol Autosol. Too early for the rest of the Christmas decorations and we hope to have Xmas in our house in Dorset with son and Grand daughters this year. They sparkle enough for me.

I feel your pain. Many a Christmas night I trudged a lonely beat because I was single and had no kids or family in London. Even the villains took the night off. Only person I kept meeting every year was a jolly bloke who permanently smelt of sherry and drove a horseless carriage very erratically. Messy so and so covered in mince pie crumbs. I think he was lost but never stopped for directions. :-(
