what are your your thoughts on the young muslims put into custody for hammering some white lads shattering halal butcher windows during busy hours? (for the record, i am white ultra-relaxed pseudo-christian, and my only good friend in the same county is an asian muslim. so there!) so no pre-judgement on my part - what do you think?

ABH is a criminal offence, so is criminal damage, Off the top of my head ABH may be a more serious offence and warrent custody for the safety of others or their own. I don't see that what colour they are or whether it was Halal or Greggs makes a difference.
I'd consider both parties guilty - both mindless criminal activities with no real excuse, and both subject to charge. As curiosity says, whether it's a Halal butcher or Greggs - and whether they're Muslim, Christian, Jewish or Jovo - should be irrelevant.
Absolutely - justice should be (must be!) blind. Unfortunately this is an area where political sensitivites enter all too often.
Excuse me but did you say "What colour they were should not make a difference" Yes I agree, but surely all things being equal (if they ever are) does this not make them racist attacks, and so put them on a more serious crime level.
It's bordering on gang warfare.

Best thing to do would be to shut all of them up together without food or drink and let them sort out their differences or starve.
Regardless of their race, colour or religion, thugs need to be dealt with in a manner that makes Joe, Mohammad and Moshe Public feel safer in their homes and on their streets.
This is the begining of the civil war.

It may or may not matter what colour the people concerned were, depending upon what drove the original vandals to stick a brick through the window.
If they had been on a random vandalism spree damaging property of whites, blacks, chinese and asians indiscriminately then of course it should not matter.
However if they said "we're sick of these muslim, black B*****s etc etc etc random racist claptrap, ad nauseum" and specifically targetted premises owner by non white people then yes, colour is very important as they were racially aggravated attacks upon the shop keeper's property.
The assault I would think may or may not be considered racially aggrvated in those circumstances depending upon the whole background to the case. Wardy would tell you better once he gets his sensible head on.
I don't understand why anyone sticks a brick through someone's window, I do sympathise more with the lads who belted those who were, but at the end of the day yo can't take the law into your own hands.
I have read that the white thugs in question were seeking pork pies.

Maddened by hunger-and obviously unable to spot the objects of their desire-they smashed the windows in frustration.

However, this is no excuse--They should be beheaded.
.... or stoned to death/blown up/throats cut/kidnapped/tortured or whatever passes for appropriate and righteous punishment in this great Christian(?) country of ours.
I understood that one cannot take the law into one's own hand therefore should not the Asians (or whoever they were) have called for the Police to come and arrest the white thugs for criminal damage ? Or does that not apply in cases like this ?
waft
These young Muslims are only doing what everyone seems to say is right. I mean, how many times have we heard right wingers bang on about what should be done to street thugs/burglars/muggers etc.

Or does it leave a bad taste in the mouth that it's not whites meting out the justice to Muslims?

Hmmm....
Well if everyone says it's OK to mete out your own justice sp1814 then it must be OK .I just hope the law remembers that in future .
