What lovely people they are
(*waits for someone to bring up Sikh wars*)
They have donated a transit van load of food.
Went into the temple and the first thing that they asked was
''Would you like any dinner''
(just ate my sarnies beforehand)
Stayed for a cuppa and (several) pieces of homemade cake and a good chat.
Wished more people were as welcoming and friendly as the Sikh community
Absolutely delightful people.
They were such GENUINE people.
Just wanted to help the less fortunate.
Told me that they cook and feed over 200 people a week.
And they made the best cup of tea ever :-)
(couldnt eat any more cake after today tho...)
We have a lot of Sikhs in this area and all the ones I know are lovely, community-minded people. I have been into the hill top Gurdwara many times and have been treated with nothing but kindness and welcoming hospitality.
Having said that, I went to a mosque last year and they were equally as friendly. Different belief system but donating to a christian charity.
Maybe our differences arnt as great as our common aims?
(religious, atheist or otherwise)
//I apologise. There's also a Hill Top in Biddulph Moor//
I know.....a sat nav dropped me into a field full of cows last year in Hill Top, Biddulph Moor, supposed to have been a church!
I listened to a lecture recently on the ills of our society.
BAME people account for about 13% to 15% of our population.
The numbers of Sikhs and Hindus in prison is so small as to hardly be worth counting.
Pakistani Muslims account for a much higher percentage of the prison population than are present in the population as a whole, and the same goes for African and West Indian ethnicities.
Obviously Sikhism and Hinduism are positive influences on people.
My friend who owns a few shops locally is Sikh. We have been friends for about twenty years.
Lovely family.
