Comparing sportsmen of different eras is never a true science. The best player i ever saw in the Claret and Blue of Burnley was Leighton James. Ask a Burnley fan 10 years older than me and they are likely to say Jimmy McIlroy.

How many times did he watch Maradona; half a dozen, a dozen? Yet he makes a comparison between the two.
