I have an old fashioned immersion heater with a very old fashioned, fiddly, exasperating difficult to see and set up timer.
I am thinking of replacing it with a 'smart' timer that I can programme from my phone or tablet.
My question is - would this Google Nest thing be suitable?

I've heard of these Barry, but I'm afraid I have no experience of them at all. It seems it's for a combi or a system boiler rather than an immersion cylinder. I would guess that it remotely controls the digital type programmer/controllers that are nowadays used to control heating/hot water on a boiler. However... this might do it. However... this might do it. Simply remove your present manual switch/timer with this fused spur.
