Word count in MS Word

Does anyone know how I get MS Word to ignore certain sections of a document during word count? For example if I have a document of approx 1000 words with a paragraph in the middle with 200 words, get I somehow select all > tools> word count and get approx 800 words ignoring the 200 I dont want to count?

instead of >select all why don't you just select the sections you want to count?

You could select all, then hold down the Ctrl key and drag your cursor over the section you don't want counted, to deselect it.

Alternatively, you could highlight that section, count it, highlight the whole document, count it, then just subtract the first count from the second
