You are looking for a vendor to supply your new business with a computer, a printer, and a copy machine. You have contacted several vendors for quotes. One of the vendors recently contacted you to offer you a "special" deal, but you had to agree to it before the end of the day. In addition to a competitive price for the equipment, he is offering you tickets to a PBA game in a private stadium suite. He wants you to agree to the deal without signing a contract and has asked that you pay him in cash. What would you do?
Is the vendor the company owner or a rep? if he's the company owner I would show him the door and never do any business with him, if the vendor is a rep or employee, I would speak to the owner of the company about it.
This question must date back to the 80's. With a typical margin of 2.5 - 3% on such a deal, it's doubtful if a vendor would even bother to quote, let alone offer you a bribe. More likely they'd just refer you to their online catalogue.
