my freind is due to go to marmaris in turkey, on friday , has contacted the travel agent , as they are unhappy to be going right in the bombings , they were told either go to marmaris or loose all their money , can this be right , thanks

They could well be right. The Foreign & Commonwealth Ofice whilst warning of terrorist attacks does not advise againt travelling to the Country.

you have purchased a holiday from them, they have completed their part of the deal - i don't see that they should refund just because you no longer want to go.

they are under no obligation to ensure your safety other than what is in their rules.

if i sold you a train ticket to go to skegness, but your hotel burnt down - would you expect me to refund the train ticket?

however, you may be able to get some kind of other destination at a reduced rate - just be nice, state your case and they may reconsider

Agree with all other answers so far. If the Foreign Office say it is OK to go, then it is down to you and the Travel Agent/Tour Operator to negotiate something you are both happy with. Nothing wrong with them doing nothing and saying normal cancellation fees apply though.
