We had new neighbours move in about a month ago, hadn't seen much of them in first week or three.
I came home from work on Thursday, Dave was talking to them over the wall (3 Feet high) I parked up, walked across to Dave, gave him a hug, said hello to them, they just walked off and went indoors.
Dave spoke to them yesterday, all they said was we don't like foreigners, I suspect we're not going to be friends.
They're 60ish by the way.
The young can be influenced by their parents, who might well hold racist views. Its up to them to make up their own minds, but some don't preferring to stay within their own spheres.
I came home from shopping 1100ish, they were out the front gardening, I got out of the car, gave them a huge smile and said 'good morning' they turned their backs, their choice.

Why didn't you mention this in the OP, Tashi?
How rude of them!
