Yes, Emmie, but like I said earlier, where is my son suppose to live while he's earning money?

He's at uni in Reading but works in Northampton. He's very lucky to have his job which they keep open for him during holidays. He saves as much as he can but it's not like he can go rent a flat.

He's coming home, simple as that.

I certainly think some relaxation makes sense.
For students stuck at college with online lessons and often very limited support it would be callous for them not to be slowed home

Ich - it's so lonely for them. Before going back to uni he was living with us with 6 other people. Now he's back at uni and there is only 1 other person who has returned.

I've never had so many messages and phone calls from him. It must be awful for their mental health.

Honest opinions given here .Should Boris and company not have been thinking along these lines before coming with this crowd pleaser with the good people seen as trying to win back favour . Think they are maybe regretting it now but will make it look like somebody’s else’s fault .

Ummm - please don't misunderstand me. Your son is of course allowed back in the family home for Christmas just as all students are.

weecalf one would need to ask Boris, but he isn;t responsible solely for these decisions. People are going to do as they see fit no matter what rulings he makes or doesn;t make.

I hope people take heed of diddly's post at 8.48. It's the government relaxing the rules. That relaxation is against the advice of the scientists who advise them only to have that advice ignored.

Ummmm, of course your son should come home. It's not situations like his that make many of us cross. It's this getting together that families and friends are doing just because the government says it's allowed.

If you read what Prof. Stephen Reicher and his colleagues say about the Christmas relaxation of rules you'll appreciate just how little scientific advice the government listens to.

It's just upsetting, Gness. I always thought I wasn't very maternal. Turns out I am. It's easy when you see them daily but not being able to touch them is so hard.

There are going to be times when you get upset, Ummmm. I never for one minute thought that I'd go for over a year not seeing my children, grands and now the two new greats.
The only time I get slightly teary though is straight after a zoom call. No hugs... :-(......but grateful that I live in a time when I can do that rather than writing long hand cramping letters or making rationed phone calls. Take care.....x
