Missing Cat
10 Answers
My cat went missing recently, he is only 2 years old so I'm pretty distraught about it. Does anyone have any good ideas on where to I can look for him or does anyone even think its likely that cats come back after 2 weeks or more? Thanks.

When one of my cats went missing I created a poster on my computer, including his photo, printed it off and photocopied it then stapled copies onto telegraph poles within a half mile radius of my home. I also contacted the local Cats Protection, the RSPCA, etc....and even contacted my local council to enquire whether his body had been found (it's their duty to dispose of dead animals on the roadside).
But I was SO glad that I'd written my phone number (and postcode) on his collar, in indelible ink, as FIVE WEEKS after he went missing I had a phone call from someone who'd been feeding him for a month (though he wouldn't let her near enough to read his collar until the end of that month!) - and, looking a little thin but otherwise healthy, I brought him home.
So don't give up - but if he's not wearing a collar with your phone number on it, you may need to advertise more widely. Why not try taking a photo of him (if you have one) to your local newspaper...sometimes they're only too pleased to write a little article, especially if there's a photo attached!
I DO hope you find him safe and well.

We had a cat that used to wander, and usually found a soft touch to take him in.
We'd put notices on lamp posts and in shops and he'd be returned..
We backed onto a sports ground and the time he was away longest he went over to the other side and couldn't find his way back. Someone knocked on our door in response to notices 'we think we've got your cat. he was very hungry'
Hope you get yours back. It may be worth asking neighbours to look in sheds and lofts in case he's locked in somewhere

I just want to say thank you for all your comments, you have left me feeling much more hopeful, he is prone to going away, normally just for 3 days but last time he was gone 6 days and came back really fat (which normally he comes back very skinny) so it did make me suspicious of where he had been!! there are posters up everywhere and leaflets in the doors. girlclown, thanks for the advice i think i will contact the local paper as he is a very popular cat in my area and very cute looking (of course every cat is cute looking though!) but they may go with it and amron i hope u find your cat soon too as i know how u feel, they are just cats but they leave pawprints on your heart....
