I dunno if it's one or the other who's gunning for me at night but I'm being eaten alive. Are there any natural remedies so to say that would work.

I've seen they got plug in repellants in Boots but as I've also got 2 dogs sleeping with me in the bedroom I don't want them to breathe that in. Do the mozzy candles work at all?

And why would they only go for me and not touch other half who's lying right next to me?

This morning was the final straw when I woke up and found my eyelid had swollen up from a bite... MY EYELID!!!

Any suggestions to help me in my war against these bloodsuckers would be most appreciated.

plug in repelents do work but not the ones in boots. You should try the ones in flipflops

Those plug-ins don't seem to give off much vapour. We use two when we're abroad,plug them in before we go out at night and quite a few hours later when we return I can't smell owt. The old fashioned flypaper may be best,if you buy it. Until you've slaughtered it,try rubbing some 'autosan' on yourself before settling down

Now don't laugh ..... many years ago when we lived abroad I used to be plagued by the bloomin' things . We lived in Holland near the dykes with stagnant water and the ruddy things were enormous. I used to wake up covered.It is only the female mozzie that bites .We had a thing that looked like a cigarette lighter which emitted a low pitched whining sound that imitated the male mozzie.Hence ..the females bggrd off and left me alone.A friend of ours who was a keen angler recommended this and I am sure you would still be able to get one at a fishing tackle shop. They operate on an AA battery.Worth enquiring about.It's not loud and won't disturb your sleep.

Hi happy_face, If your up for trying natural remedies, try som mint in a glass of water on your bed-side table,eaeu de cologne mint is the best one, but dont wake up and drink it LOL

Thunderbird and Shaneystar I have never heard of either suggestions before and I'm intrigued. Shaneystar I like the little keyring repellant as you can take it with you where you go. I'd like to try Thunderbird's suggestion first as it's very cost effective by the sounds of it.

Thunderbird would you explain a bit more please? Is it just a mint leaf in a glass of water?

i find that the best way to keep them away is have a fan blowing nearby as mosquitos find u from the carbonmonixide that u breath out and the will eat u instead of ur partner if ur a heavier breather.

I grew up in the Caribbean so know just what you mean about some people being attractive to mozzies and others no! It's apparently due to chemicals in your sweat! A good remedy which I've tried and found very effective is taking vitamin B6 tablets. We do this (including the children) every year for a couple of weeks before going on holiday and while away and find we hardly get bitten. The idea is that it makes your skin/sweat smell unappealing to mozzies as the excess B6 is sweated out. If you try it, please post your results. It would be interesting to see if it worked for you as well - everyone else I know who's tried has found it at least partially successful.

try dabbing tea-tree oil over your skin before you go to bed, it works for me.

Eating lots of Marmite can help, apparently the little beasties hate the taste or smell or something. I wish I had something to back this up, but I've been told by friends that it works for them.

Hi again..yes Marmite does work. I use it and like magic, no mossies...the downside is, no friends either. now I'm off to my Birthday party. holding it in the phonebox accross the road...See ya
