Went for daily paper at Spar. Two young men in workclothes walked with no face coverings.

I was stood at the till and the next customer was 2 metres behind. 2 feet behing him was one of the unmasked man.

I said to the cashier loudly, I see the social distancing and face coverings have been abandoned.

One man said, mind your own business. I said it my business and everyone else. You may have scant regard to your own and others safety. I said he was ignorant, arrogant and showed no respect to others.

I find as I get older I don't suffer fools as gladly as I once did.

You have some sympathy from me sparklykid in that we share some frustration at the way some blatantly abuse it and sellfishly show disregard for fellow members of society. But at are store we stopped challanging non-mask wearers as it just led to confrontation or we were ignored/dismissed with 2 words or a glare/. We found the best method was to offer a free...

Is that comment directed to me Emmie?
MM which comment ?
someone on here lives in Portugal i think and says you can;t go anywhere with out a mask.
About not knowing what they do in other country as I posted about Belgium
perhaps Belgium have got it right who knows.
In a way, SparklyKid, and others as well, you are taking the law into your own hands. It's not your job, or anyone elses's, to challenge anyone about wearing a mask. That is the job of the police. Contact them and report it.
and they will do what exactly
one can only go on guidelines on wearing a mask.
They are not guidelines. It's the law, isn't it, Emmie? The police enforce the law in this country, don't they? Not supermarket staff or busy-body, nosey parker shoppers.
i see staff in a supermarket not wearing them, why not.
i have seen policeo officer in local coffee not wearing them. I don;t know whether they are supposed to or not, but haven;t they got enough to do as it it, with fighting crime, to have the time or resources to nick everyone not wearing a mask.
I don't know Emmie. Some people can claim exemption. Maybe they are in that category.
i posted a link a while back on who is exempt, seems some are, i have no idea on the police.
As far as I know, the police uphold the law in this country. No-one else. Wearing a mask in a shop is obeying the law. Not wearing one is a breach of the law. The law, Emmie. That's what the police do. Because it's their job.
all i am saying is they have neither the time nor the manpower to implement it. If they did one would see them about in supermarket and sundry other places, telling people they must wear one.
it may be the law as you say, and they can fine people for not wearing a face covering, but i wonder if it happens all that often. Supermarkets are not seemingly enforcing people to wear them in their stores going on sqad post, where he went to sainsburys earlier.
