I have some friends i met about 14 years ago. At the time, they didnt have a landline and only used their mobiles, and i remember thinkig how weird that was. Nowadays, i think i am the only person i know who still does have a landline (with a phone plugged in that still gets used occasionally)
Do you still have a landline?> Is it used?
No landline, No Phone, not for 8 or 9 years.
I remember that most calls were scams and sales calls, and that it was very expensive. Started doing Skype calling over wifi a few years before I got rid of the landline. Every call from home is over wifi now. My mobile is mainly for incoming calls.
Like Zebo, I have to walk round the garden to maintain a reasonable signal on my mobile. Tried various providers and although the current one is the most reliable, its not brilliant here in rural Norfolk.
I have a landline and use it nearly all the time, with all my calls free (including to mobiles). My mobile is a cheap non-smart one on PAYG, only used for the occasional text and the occasional call when I am out. This suits me fine.
alavahalf I think it's more than a bit judgemental and condescending to suggest most of the people on here that use a landline because they have poor signal have never heard of or use WhatsApp. I bet many do, I do myself a lot but even with average 37 Mb b/band speed many of my whatsapp calls drop out as I move from room to room in the house. In fact I was making one yesterday and had to give up as it broke up and tried to reconnect about 5 times. It happens a lot.
My mum won't phone mobiles, I have to have a landline mostly for her benefit. I have a package that means calls to other landlines are free up to 59 mins so useful for chatting to friends. I only have a dumb phone mobile which mostly languishes in the bottom of my handbag.
i have a smart mobile, but honestly don't use it much, though it died on me earlier, got it going again and though you know i need it.
My mate sometimes uses whatsapp and family had a whatsapp chat line going for when mum was ill
