Boiler prob!

I have an old boiler/immersion, which did not work for 3 months, waiting for a plumber. The immersion comes on but does not heat the boiler up.
I turned it on the other day, heard it ignite and worked fine for a few days until I turned it off.

Put it on again a day later, and again it doesn't heat the boiler. I did notice that there was no igniting sound, but the fan does come on. Any tips anyone??? Its an old Glowworm heater!!
