Excess Animal Hair ?

We have excess animal hair in our home, Dyson is struggling. Any suggestions for a reliable vacuum cleaner, light Weight, easy emptying, hand held . TIA .

I have tried Dyson and Shark and sent them back. Cannot beat my GTech for animal hair and just ease and lightness.
Also, I bought a groomi comb, which the dogs really enjoy and also reduces the amount of hair they leave about :-)

I find the far easiest way to get hair out of carpets is with a rubber blade or broom, then suck the mass up with any old vac

Anne - you know I had to put my big heavy hoover upstairs and this is what I buy and it does the trick. I have one very heavy curly mat in the living room and when you go to the edge of the mat with my hoover you can see it lifting at the corner which to me suggests a good suction.
