Being Retired!

It makes you forget about normal life.
Went to collect prescriptions today. Chemists shut.
Forgot all about lieu days. Completely forgot about today being a bank holiday.
Should have picked prescriptions last week so short on pills.
Hope to get them tomorrow.

Your 'crack' reference, Roy, reminds me of the moment in One Foot in the Grave when Victor Meldrew's wife related his experience with UK customs officials:
"Well... the man had just stopped him how they do, and said 'how are we today sir?', to which Victor replied, 'I'm fine apart from the crack in my bottom', you know how he suffers with that crack, so that was it, he was in there two and a half hour while they looked for it."

I like retirement very much. I can indulge my indolence.
How I found time to work I know not. Cons, energy levels low, sleepy time in the pm.

The only reason I knew it was a bank holiday yesterday was all our offices were shut and appointments blocked. That didn't stop me trying to take some returns to the post office. Came back home with all the packages still in the trolley, lol

our chemist were open yesterday, as i phoned them for a script which wasn;t in, - doctor wasn't open but is today tuesday

Our local chemist was shut but Superdrug was open. Pharmacy bit was shut though.

am hoping that my prescription gets in today so i can pick it up later on. Or that they have the meds i need.

In retirement I miss most not having a day off!
That wonderful feeling when laying in bed and thinking,"I don't have to get up if I don't want to!"

Lieu days were only the public sector, remember them well, then they put them in the leave allowance in the NHS and transport sector because it was too disruptive. I admit I lose track too, normally waking up on a Friday and wondering where the week went.

Tigger, our local post office did a recorded letter for a bloke on Boxing day, it was something where proof of posting was needed to be within a date, might have been road tax a job application or something whatever it was he was seriously grateful. The advantages of small local businesses.

Love being retired and taking off the shackles of time, alarms etc, to fo what I want,when I want , don't know how I found time to work

more or less retired when was made redundant, Mr Em got sick and passed away, then i became too ill to work, offically became retirement age CD

I still find the weekends have a different feel to them, weekdays just merge and it’s only by looking at the date on my iPad or phone that I can be sure what day it is.

Rowan, I had a problem with a registered post item I sent to my solicitor on 17th Dec. It never arrived and the signature on track and trace was belonged to the postperson who allegedly "delivered" it. It was my new house contract and I ended up having to hand deliver it on 22nd. I've made a complaint and still waiting for a refund of £6.70.
