There is no point in allowing takeouts from pubs when this is what happens.

Round here, the ones that open for take away are very successful with no problems. Maybe the local authorities should be dealing with isolated problems that occur and leave the problem free ones alone to get on with their business.

//What's a wet pub?//
The full term is actually a "wet led" pub, jd. It is one which relies mostly for its income on selling drinks rather than one where food dominates. Such places were presented with problems when it was decreed that alcohol could only be served with a "substantial meal." It's where the ridiculous debate over whether a Scotch Egg would fit the description of a substantial meal came in.
There is a national chain of pubs (not Wetherspoons) which has three outlets within striking distance of me. Only one of the three reopened after the November lockdown. When I visited the third I was speaking to the guv'nor and he told me that the other two were considered "wet" (even though all three provided identical menus) and so would not be opening for a while, probably not before 17th December. In fact they have not reopened at all because the area went into T3 (and thence to T4) before they could.
