Hello,
I need your help please!
I am wanting to apply for a new teaching job, but have an awful headteacher for a boss!
If you get short listed for a position within the teaching profession, it is custom that they ask for a reference before you are interviewed, thus you need to tell your headteacher that you are applying for a particular post!
I need to give a good diplomatic answer, when I am asked why I want to leave my current post!
Could I pick your brains for some great answers please?
Many thanks in advance.

Just say to your headmaster that you need a reference from a good headmaster and was wondering could he think of a good one that could help .
new challenge
professional development
change in personal circumstances
What is your reason? Youll be aksed at interview anyway so you need an answer ready
If its because you have an awful boss then best not to say that.
Sounds like they're going to be pretty unsupportive whatever you say, so dont agonise over it too much on his/her behalf! Just say you want to try for a new challenge or something like that.

Instead concentrate on the answer ready for the interview question and focus on how much you'd like to join their team as you admire the culture and success of the school etc.

Some might say 'do your own homework'.

Anyway scruffbag dont forget to tell us how you got on with the headteacher and the new job.
I agree that you shouldnt dwell on it too much. Just be straight with him/ her.
