My gaming life started on the ZX Spectrum and Head Over Heels, with its isometric rooms, was utterly addictive.
The Tomb Raider series was great too, although I only watched the last instalment (can’t remember the name) as a walkthrough on YouTube – graphically excellent but it didn’t feel like Tomb Raider somehow.
Also enjoyed all the Burnout games and still play Burnout Paradise a lot, although I have a router problem that can make it very difficult joining rooms. I get into the room, see the player list, see current records etc, but get kicked after about 30 seconds; “Failed to connect”. Hopefully it’ll be better when I get fibre optic in January.
I was never a great fan of the NFS series but quite enjoyed Most Wanted, the only frustration being the attention of cops when I just want to blast around and explore.
Everybody’s Golf World Tour and the current version are great for relaxing and pretty good fun with friends online.
My other favourite is Mod Nation Racers – never bothered with career mode but quite addicted to track designing.
