Thanks for the address. I will certainly send a card. Nothing can help his loss but at least he'll know people care.
Thank you Tilly.
My daughter was involved in setting up "Postcards of Kindness" when she worked for a private care home company. It's grown huge, with care homes literally all over the UK and some worldwide registered. I think there are over 40,000 members now. The effect on the residents is immeasurable, not only the joy of receiving and reading the cards and looking at the pictures but residents with dementia remember their holidays and my daughter said some people, who spoke rarely, took part in discussions with other residents. All this for the cost of a postcard. Please check the "Postcards of Kindness" site and perhaps send a card.
Did we do something like this before? It may have been that Roo mentioned it because I recall sending postcards from holiday places to care homes because it reminded residents of their holidays. Can't think where else I'd have heard of it...lovely thing to do.
Even now with the ease of communicating with family I do like to get a letter or holiday postcard.
Already done we saw it on TV yesterday, shameful reporting making the poor old chap even more sad.
Yes, gness, I have posted about it in the past. You have an excellent memory!
Thank you webbo3 for putting this on .. I will get one in the post tomorrow
Oh I don't know about my memory, Roo!
It just stuck because we sent Ring of Kerry cards and so many people will have toured the RofK we hoped they'd reach some who did and bring back a memory or two... :-)
Thanks, tilly, will send one x
Gness, there was a recent one for Captain Tom as well x
Very touching video, will send a card.
I probably didn't see that one, Pixie. I could only remember the postcards. Could maybe do that one again. From here. Won't be holidaying anywhere! :-)

thank you for all your answers.
Welcome, Webbo and thanks. Not all of us get the same news as the UK so it's good to hear about things like this that we can contribute to with such little effort. x
RIP John he passed away today
