if a team of dodgy Italians came over here, stole a load of gold bullion and then dumped their red, white and green Fiat 500s, used in the getaway, in one of our Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We'd see them as a bunch of lovable rogues... wouldn't we?

Of course we would! The English Job; Italy's favourite film.
We'd blow their bloody doors orf...
Only if they were singing about la società di autoconservazione
originally they were supposed to use Fiat 500s, but some problem meant they could not.
Aaaah, another shaft of wit!
....porta i tuoi pattini su amico!
But the Fiats could only cope with a wedding ring each.
Have they got a computer expert call Benito Collina?
Who would play Campo Federico?
It does beg the question whether the producer / director obtained permission or just did it. Great film but I nearly cru every time that Lambo gets totalled at the beginning ( even if it was engineless).
It was the E-Type that brought tears to my eyes, Zacs. I had a ride in a Miura once. A mate worked in the Italian Car Centre in Alie Street near Aldgate in London's East End. He took me for a spin in a "demonstrator" (well, that's what he called it). Very impressive, smooth but we couldn't let it too loose around Gardiners Corner and into the Whitechapel Road! I recall the tale (probably apocryphal) when Sig. Lamborghini was tackled about the Miura's lack of boot space (the engine took up all the space behind the cockpit and the spare wheel the space in front). He responded by saying that wherever you are going, such was the car's performance that you can get there and back in day so no luggage was necessary! I recall they cost £10,500 when they were introduced and an E-Type went for £2,250 at the same time. The Lambo used four Weber triple-choke carbs which sold for £150 each. You could buy a decent second hand Anglia for that money!

However, I digress!
judge the roadster survives, the DB4 also, they mocked up a Lancia.
I don't think the fiats would fit in Coventry's sewer pipes
The electrics kept failing on the Fiats.
Thanks, Tora, that’s helped my trauma.
judge:"Who would play Campo Federico? " - TBF they have just the chap: https://tinyurl.com/y5od4jmd
Did the Turin authorities and FIAT realise how they would be portrayed?
I felt sorry for those puny Italian cars and motorbikes up against our mighty Minis.
No CGI either.
