No, they are clever enough to realise that there is more to life than changing gear!

I think it's because the majority of people who buy these cars new have become fed up of changing gear when driving.

Also perhaps, there would be little uptake (sales wise) if manufacturers were to mate a manual gearbox with the large engines found in these cars.

It's different in Europe though I think, where you can (or used to be able to) buy big cars specifying manual gearboxes.
