Many years ago my Moto G 2 used to do random things itself. It would randomly phone any of my contacts and it would change the settings without me even having the phone on me.
Your phone is no longer supported by Motorola and you haven't had an update for years.
Check your settings to see if it has decided it is in Aeroplane mode or perhaps 'do not disturb'.

If you are facing any issue with having no sound when the phone rings, then it might be in non disturb, silent, or vibrate mode. Go to the setting and check that if it is in silent or vibration mode and change it to sound mode. Also, increase the volume of the ring tone.
