Amazing! For some reason it brought to mind that old RCA Victor ad of a dog sitting in front of a Victrola and cocking it's head as it (supposedly) heard it's master's voice. The dog in the story might have inquisitively cocked it's head watching the owner walking and thought "Oh, I can do that."

Many years ago one of my mum's friends had a dog who developed a limp. She was forced to carry it everywhere. The Vet could find nothing wrong with it.

He advised her to stop carrying it and see what happened. Outside the surgery she put the dog on the pavement and waited to see what her dog did.

It walked towards a lamppost, had a sniff and walked off down the street.
