Further to my last post. eBay are now asking for bank accounts for sellers, they won’t be using PayPal any more which I liked. And their fees are going up, I believe it was 10% inc postage on sales. It is going up to 12.8% of the total amount inc postage. There is also a fixed charge of 30p, I believe this is on any item you buy. I will be trying Gumtree and Preloved for sales in future. Any money I have in PayPal can be used on sales elsewhere.

Sellers currently pay a percentage of the selling price to PayPal.
A lot of eBay sellers dislike PayPal's protection scheme as they feel they always find in favour of the buyer. I've never had any problems but I know a lot of people who have with buyers returning something other than the item sent and PayPal still refunding them (in one case a magazine instead of an iPad), buyers claiming they never received the item when the item was collected even when the seller has proof (never allow a buyer to collect an item when they've paid by PayPal) and buyers claiming the item was not as described and providing photos of something that wasn't sent.
Better off but its small on the £10 sale, the main thing is its certainly no worse!! More the sale more your better off.
If eBay has increased their fees, there's a possibility that Gumtree might start charging more too. (Yes, I know that advertising on Gumtree is basically free but they encourage sellers to pay for optional features to promote their ads). That's because Gumtree is owned by eBay.

Shpock, which is also free to sellers, is an alternative which seems to have been gaining a lot of ground recently:

eBay in gen is no longer as good as it used to be anyway.

If it’s hand made items or vintage items better to try Etsy

Or for regular run of the mill stuff Facebook market place
No problem here using PayPal on Ebay.
I have sold 15 items on eBay over the past 10 days. All my payments are through PayPal and all my deliveries are Next Day through UPS.
It all works really well together, why does it need changing.
alav, nothing is changing except the way you receive your money - directly in to your bank and not through PayPal. Buyers will still be using PayPal
If I remember rightly Paypal charge something like 3.5% for collecting money on your behalf.
It sounds as though things will slow down a little. As you won't have that instant notice regarding customers payment arriving.
You should still get instant notice of receipt of payment.
But you wont get instant notice if a buyer pays directly into your bank a/c .. will you ?
Or am I missing something ?
Oh yes, I see your point. The money is going to take two or three days to get in to your bank account. You could accept payments by Google Pay or Apple Pay, or Direct Bank Transfer
Having just read through the changes, it seems I am already avoiding the majority of the fees, just by creating listings and saving them as a Draft, only listing them on the £1.00 promo weekends.
Without doubt your feedback could be ruined if buyers start to complain about the delay in posting, only caused by the time your payment takes to appear in your a/c.
