I wouldn't mind having a PM that was "obsessed with politics" as you dismissively put it... it would be a welcome change from being obsessed with themselves. Shock, horror, a leader with a passion for their job!
// What Can Labour Do...... //

well some labour party members, MPs and former ministers are saying (and reports today in some papers are echoing) that the party isn't left wing enough and needs someone like John McDonnell as leader.......
A good start would be by representing the people once again. KS post Corbyn reminds me of a floundering Neil Kinnock after the Michael Foot era. He cannot lead when he is being regularly undermined.

I dismiss Corbyn obsession because it makes him one-dimensional and out of touch with all but his Islington bubble.

To appeal to a diverse electorate, you first have to demonstrate that you understand them, you know them, how they think, and what they want, and convince them that you will provide it for them.

Knowing the thoughts of Karl Marx backwards is not going to endear you to a twenty-first century electorate, and offering 'free broadband' to anyone but a bunch of naive students is going to insult the people whose votes you need.

Any potential PM has to be a rounded sensible open-minded person - being obsessed with anything is never going to be a good fit.
I wasn't talking about Corbyn andy. And convincing people that you understand them is not the sane thing as actually understanding them...

The point I am trying to make is that labour has an uphill struggle even when it elects decent leaders
Maybe Mr Starmers passing resemblance to Tony Hadley will help the cause.
"being obsessed with anything is never going to be a good fit."

I think an obsession with policymaking would be an excellent fit.
