(For Back yard) I bought a LED one from recommendations but I don't like it as it is not bright enough. My last one is finished.

Have looked online but would like to buy one with recommendation from yourselves as there are so many to choose from.

no answers then - ah well.
Avoid the solar ones from Screwfix - we tried 2 - both were faulty.

Currently got a Spear and Jackson one frommHome Bargains
last light bulbs i bought were from Robert Dyas, 60w, screw in type, but don't think that's what you are after..

no I am looking for like a floodlight (electric) - my backyard is fairly big. All the old one needs a new bulb but unfortunately I can't get the rusted screw off. My builder neighbour couldn't get it off either. He says the rusted nail has sorted (rusted) in.

Tuvok - looked at your Spear &Jackson - that's the one I don't like (new one) - I put it up myself like I only tied it on with a piece of string for time being - works like when you go in and out of yard but I find the light pretty dim.
There are 2 Spear and Jackson ones - we've got both - the smaller self-contained one is just bright enough to light a path. The other with separate solar panel is bright - which can be adjusted, along with sensitivity and duration.
Jenny, I have a 35watt version of one of these , and it lights up the whole of my front entrance yard..........

I think you may find the 20watt version would be fine for you, if you just have a typical backyard.
It's a PIR (motion detection.)
Assuming you have a switch for your existing light, you would just leave the switch on all the time (day & night.) The sensor switches the light on when it detects you going into the yard.
I should have added... the light goes out automatically after a while, unless it senses you moving around again.

thanks all for your answers.

I ended up smashing the screw off - like a couple of blatters the glass window fell down. I already had the bulb so inserted and tied the glass window back up with wire garden string. And so it has lit up like a dream.

However Builder I have taken note of your link when this fails. Your link actually looks very much like the one I have on.

So thanks again.
