Change name on deeds

I own a house and have just married and wish to put my house in joint names.....I dont have a mortgage, can we do this ourselves? or do we have to pay a solicitor?

Congratulations on your marriage - don't put your house in joint names.

A friend of mine (W) lived with her daughter (A) in her daughter's house. However, W paid to have the house extended and completely done up, spent thousands �.
A met a man and married him after only six months, put house in both their names and after a year he left her and is now after "his" half of the house.

I know I am a pessimist in this but I think you should hang on to your property for some time yet.

What's your rush?

When I moved in with my (now) wife, she didn't do anything about changing the ownership of the house for 5 years or so. It didn't bother me in the slightest. She was just being careful.

We will look at the links. ....I want to put the house in joint names as it was my husband who paid off the mortgage when he sold his house.
