Just been discussing the vaccine and how people are being contacted to attend for their jabs. I know my son has not been to see a doctor for over 25yrs and am pretty sure he is not registered anywhere so how or who will contact him? He's never been in hospital either so any medical records will be over 25 years old when he was in the Army and he has had a couple of addresses since then.

Put simply, he needs to register.

Can he recall what his last Surgery was?

Joined the Army when he was 17, spent 8 years in Germany and never registered when he left the services. He's 50 now.

He lives with us so I'll give our doctor a ring tomorrow and see he will accept him otherwise he may miss out.
Once his age group is officially due, he will be able to book through the NHS website.

He should just need to fill a form in that's all.

Good luck.
Oh, hang on, that website says you need to be registered with a GP, though it has a link to follow for that.

Thanks Mamya and Hopkirk. He wouldn't even have thought about it but I'll get him sorted.
he will be registered somewhere, otherwise he will not have a nhs number, and did you not register him with a gp.?

Before he joined the Army he must have been registered where we lived at that time. We have moved since then and I can't even remember a doctor's name or where the surgery was as it was 33 yrs ago. We moved just after he joined up. I'll contact our surgery in the morning and get some advice. Thanks all for your advice.
He needs to go to a walkin centre with proof of who he is, they will be able to look him up on SCR which is the main database for the UK, I use it everyday, it will give his last known gp.
BD NHS will be able to trace him via his NI number.
He will need to reregister with Dr after leaving forces. When I left the forces years ago I didn't register for a long time as I wasn't ill but when I needed the Dr was told off by them for not doing it. The reason they gave me was that the Dr got paid for each patient they had on their books. As others have said contact your Drs and get him registered. It will make things easier for when he does need them.
