Very simply put, when hot air rises into the upper atmosphere, it then cools and then falls. When it hits the ground it travels sideways along the ground. Yep, fast moving air.

Yep, that also. Wind is a very complicated subject and different windscan be caused in different ways. For instance, the wind that often builds before a thunderstorm arrives can be caused in the way that I describe.
