In India and some other parts of the world, when pouring tea into a cup or glass, they tend to pour it from a great height, sometime's 12 to 18 inches above the cup, and they don't miss the cup. Is there a reason behind it or just fancy serving?

Possibly to cool it down in a hot country, but more likely showing off like a cocktail barman.
To oxygenate it.

Got it, it did cross my mind, they tend to say here to use fresh water in kettle apposed to already pre boiled.
i have seen it done here, i didn't know why, but now Naomi has said that makes sense.
James Corden poured the milk from a great height when he was serving tea to Prince Harry, on that open-air bus. I think he was just showing off.
