A Former Coach Stared Right At Me From Across The Field. Why?

I was watching a track meet when I noticed him standing directly across from me, staring intently at me. I wonder exactly why. Couldn’t make out the facial expression.

It was a coach from years ago. When I saw he was retiring, I sent flowers and a note as he’d been influential in my teens. Was he thanking me weirdly?

Or showing he remembered me? Wanted me to come say hi? Staring over my shoulder at the food cart?

Had that been me staring at you I would have been trying to place who you are and why you looked familiar to me. Did I know you or did you remind me of someone I used to know? I dfo it all the time with actors on Tv, "Where have I seen him/her before?"
