I spent a few hours last night and a couple more tonight watching the first series and a half of 'The Detectorists'. How on planet Earth i missed this delightfully gentle comedy when it was first aired, i know not. What i do know is that i will be spending another few hours tomorrow afternoon and evening watching the remaining episodes.
While there is a lot of wry humour in there, there is also some laugh out loud moments. And some great performances from the two leading men, Toby Jones and Mackenzie Crook.
Hopkirk, that's it Arky, couldn't recall who it is often shares the banter with TonyAV.
TonyAV, who got lucky? If you mean the Super Clarets, then you need to see a doctor. We mullered Everton, the Toffees with the soft center:-) We could have had 5 or 6. What's more, as a few on here already know, i nearly always back my lot to win 2-1. Got 16/1 yesterday. Ker-ching :-))
I find it a delight to watch, Barry. I only came across it because i was looking for something light to watch for a half hour while my meal was cooking in the oven.
Ken...you missed it because it wasn't widely hyped and rather hidden away when first shown. I watched it from the beginning (one of the advantages of having Radio Times - you can see what's worth watching and what's best avoided.
It's what's described as gentle, bucolic comedy...the sort that doesn't need dubbed laughter.
