Anyone else had their Council Tax bill? Just received mine - an absolute stinker which has gone up by nearly 5%, when inflation is currently around 1%. After everything that has happened in the past year there will be many who are now unable to pay.

Not looking forward to getting mine from Mr. Khan...
Mine's going up 5%, too. Can't say I'm surprised.
Mine went up £3 a month so can't really complain.
not sure what mine is, i have had the letter, forgot all about it to be honest.
Yes mine is up 7.5%!
It's about time they spread the cost over 12 months instead of 10. I know why they do it but it is the biggest single bill I have and I'm sure many people would find it easier to pay over 12 smaller instalments.
chelle, I thought 5% is the maximum councils are allowed to increase the tax by.
Our annual increase has risen by £48, so under £1 week rise. I can stand that. I was expecting a higher increase.
barry, it may well be worth asking as I think you can ask for it to be over 12 months.
Is that so barry? Thanks I will double check

I do pay mine over 12 months, perhaps it is down to the LA
Ours has gone up by 5.2 % works out at around £100 per month.
£70 increase per annum which is pretty much what i was expecting
The government has set the maximum rise at 4.9%. If councils want to increase it by more than that there has to be a referendum.

Didn't know that, barry. Mine's gone up 4.6%

It won't come from Mr Khan, shoota. It will come from your local London borough. Mr Khan receives his "precept" from the total.
in my case Camden... Mr Khan can go whistle...
what's a precept NJ>
1.5% for ours, now 2711.82. Cant complain really.
Here in Oldham those who pay by Direct Debit can choose to pay over 10 or 12 months and have a choice of dates (1st, 8th, 15th or 24th). Those who pay by any other method have to pay over 10 months and on 1st of each month. I feel that is more than a tad unfair.
