so is there a connection with the word Cathedral?

I think there is a connection but I am not an expert. I think a Cathedral was, originally, a seat of learning or something similar. I believe nowadays a "chair" can also mean a teaching post in some universities. So a Chathedral was a place from where religious teachings were issued.
