Bagless Vacuum Cleaners.
13 Answers
I thought they sounded lovely, but having had a couple I now think they are awful. Emptying them involves clouds of smoke-like dust going everywhere. The filters get clogged up and need to be tapped and shaken and again the 'smoke' goes everywhere. A cleaner with a bag that acts as container and filter now seems an attractive prospect. Any advice from clever ABers who have tried all sorts?

On the adverts , you just open them up and all the debris just drops out into the bin. That is not so! You have to literally scrape it out into the bin and, consequently become enveloped in clouds of dust! Horrible.
However, the convenience and ease of use or the the machine overrides the mushroom cloud of dust. I just try to stand back or get Mr T to do it. :-)

I find there is still a cloud of dust when I empty my Dysons and the filters need frequent rinsing but I have got very dusty clay soil and a dog who loves to tread mud in. I minimise the cloud by putting the cannister in a bin bag before emptying it. On balance I stick with my Dyson because the performance is so good.
My (original) Dyson is a nightmare to empty - dust goes everywhere & clogs up inside the cylinder so you have to wipe it out - def a mask job so I don't use it now.
The Beldray Airgility (which I bought following a discussion on here) is easy & clean to empty - just hold over the bin & click the flap open. You still have to remove & clean the filter (washable not paper) occasionally which is a bit more messy.
