Some of the repairs seem to be very extensive and would take a lot of time to do. Because of the turnover time of TV do they experts do ALL the work themselves? Apart from the parts where a specialist skill other than the original Expert has and is passed onto another one. Or are they Damien Hurst types where they do a bit on the TV and their competent "Helpers" will do the bulk of the repair work. I can understand it because of the time constraints , but if this is the case it should be more open. Or is this the wonderful illusion of TV.

we'll never know.
You do realise that the time between bringing in the old stuff and collecting the renovation can be several weeks, even some months?
My "annoyance" with this programme is that the owners casually walk round the corner carrying their stuff, while the voice-over states that they are from Northumberlnd...OK, where are they walking from, then?
well the things it SHOWS them doing takes time & expertise so I don't think they'd need to outsource much. They do sometimes need help with specialisms they don't have - maybe glass blowing or re-plating.
Most are probably walking from the car park Ginge.

Same on Homes under the Hammer, ginge.
The Repair shop is there as a physical building. But there is no business as such run from the location. You cant roll up and expect to have your repairs done there .. all the repairers operate their own business's from their own premises. The Repair Shop is just a building where they present the show from. It is done at at Singleton Museum near Chichester.

Mark my point is that over the course of the series each expert will undertake maybe half a dozen projects, each one is different and may take a short or longer time to repair, however my point is they must have extra help as they would not be able to do all the projects. I believe there is some artistic license in the show.
I wish they would say how long the job has taken. Eg last night the lady painting the scales. She said it takes a long time, have to hold my breath doing each line etc and 30 seconds later its finished! Must have taken at least a day.
Good grief do you expect to have a whole series just watching one woman paint something? Do you think its a live programme? lol!
:-)
Yes, they do
Don't forget they will also have filmed the bit you see many times to get the exact angles and comments just right. Even on Escape To The Country they have to go in and out of the houses and different rooms many times just to make it seem natural. These programmes are all set up - the Tattoo Fixers show was not even a proper place and the 'receptionist' was an actress who is now in several adverts.
