Changing From 02 To Virgin With 02 Phone Locked

Is is still the case that you have to pay to unlock a mobile phone which is out of contract. My friend very kindly gave me her Old Apple phone 10 when she started a new contract with 02. Would I have to pay to unlock this. I have a payg phone SIM card with them and would like to keep my phone number as I have had it for years.

Yes, you would hve to have the phone unlocked, but after that you could get the switching code or PAC code and then you could transfer your number to the (Newer) phone

I read your post as saying that the phone was used on the O2 network and that you have an O2 SIM card. If that is the case you can just put it in the phone and it will work. It's always possible that the phone isn't locked to a network, anyway; put your SIM in it and try it.

You will also need to find out whether your existing SIM Card is the right size for the iphone X. If you are already with O2, all you need to do is put your existing SIM into the phone your friend has given to you.
