Thunder Bolt 2 Cable

I have a MAC AIR with Thunder Bolt 2 Can I get a cable so as I can use a USB connection Every time I look it up it keeps saying USB C
connection I want USB 2 or 3

I'm no expert in the field but my understanding (backed up by looking at the Apple website and a bit of further googling) is that Thunderbolt connections use entirely different technology to stand USB connections. So a Thunderbolt 2 port can only be connected to another Thunderbolt port or, via an adaptor, to an Ethernet or Firewire port. It's not possible to connect to a regular USB port. (Thunderbolt 3 ports can, though, be connected to USB-C ports via an adapter).
