At the risk of inciting more negative input I have to say today is one of those days I feel proud of my country, within 24 hours of the announcement of the death of Prince Phillip we have these 41 gun salute ceremonies set up and televised all over the UK and Gibraltar - all the forces, ceremonial guns and horses involved. Yes I know they will have it planned but even so, the organisation is amazing and so quickly. Something we have always been top notch at.

That's a very good question Pixie, most definitely a negative one based on overall replies.

I too am a great one for dignity and protocol in these matters and have found the last twenty four hours on here to be sprinkled with some very unpleasant posts.

Prudie's opening few words were indeed prophetic.
Thanks mamya, and yes, prudie was unfortunately accurate.
Sqad, I respect nj as well. I was just showing it was not about "generations" but about character.
Prince Philip came across as a generally kind person, who did a lot for youths, children, the footage of him directing children to the front of the crowds so they could pass flowers to the Queen was a lovely gesture, one he apparently made often made.
I am proud of Britain and of being British every day that God allows me to wake. It was the way I was brought up I suppose. Britain was and is one of the greatest nations to have ever existed.
Did I read somewhere that the BBC have something on its website where you can complain specifically about the amount of its own coverage of Prince Philip’s death? Presumably it’s a bit of market research so they can be prepared for when the Queen passes.
That's lovely players ...
I saw some very nasty comments made last night on here. Totally uncalled for. As the saying goes, if you haven't got anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Be kind.
Just saw this Prudie , I agree....no one does it better than us British people , great thread
