Anyone got a continuous payment ( not direct debit / standing order ) on any goods or services - eg insurance renewal ?

Is it a good thing to have ?

Good for you. My misgivings about doing that are that the insurer was just "trying it on" with the higher renewal quote so how can I trust them & I don't like doing business with people I don't trust.

I understand your feeling

However I think that you will find that most insurers will make reduction on the renewal premium if asked .

The same goes for other insurance based products - eg British Gas home care cover
I think whatever service you buy now there's a barter amount factored into the price your presented with first.

I always phone up the providers who I have cover with for a reduction , come renewal date.

They expect you to do so , even though they hope you don't
