i wanted to skip my usual sandwich and have egg and chips, with a couple of slices of bread and butter, why i couldn't tell you as i don't eat eggs that often nor chips in a long time. but fancied it for once, well the eggs were out of date, so that was a no no, now the chips didn't taste as nice as i thought they would. not even with a little ketchup -
do you sometimes have something for lunch maybe then think now why did i bother.
whats on your lunch menu, something tasty i hope.
I rarely eat eggs. I only eat scrambled ones disgusted with ketchup. But Emmie, I hardly take any notice if the use by date. Eggs last far longer and you will notice if an egg has gone off as soon as you crack it. Years ago people kept eggs in a larder.i am going to try a gluten free vegetable quiche for lunch courtesy of genius who make g free products.
The last time I had a disappointing lunch, it was tinned hot smoked mackerel. I usually buy the chilled, but had gotten some tins for lockdown. This was very dry...almost tough...and salty. Won't get that again.
I have no clue either about portion sizes. I've sent my OH to work with his lunch and lunch for his mate :-) French onion soup with Gruyere toast, veg lasagna with chicken thighs.
Zyla, I do avocado with olive oil, lemon juice and a little salt and pepper. So, probably not as healthy as it could be...but my health standards are fairly low :-)
i am fast getting bored with much of what i have for lunch, if i go to the park, i often get a sandwich from the little sainsburys, they do a lovely smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich for 2.25 which i think is about a quid cheaper than the local waitrose.
