Windows 10 Latest Update

I have just succumbed to the "nag screen" and updated to Version 20H2.
This update took a couple of hours and I'm now wondering what benefits I can expect as at the moment things don't seem to have changed very much, alert from my personal preferences have reverted to what MS think they should be!

If you have a NAS check it's still connected - the update wiped out all the software and lost the connection.
Apart from that I haven't noticed much difference.

Having said that, it looks very different on my second desktop which has the Home edition, this desktop is Pro

Does it automatically update or are you given a choice. And if so, should you take them up on it, in your opinions?

Spicerack, I always update and have never had any problems - apart from the NAS that I have already mentioned. All my devices are set to automatically update.

Ooops, I've just checked my settings and it wasn't that update that caused me problems (my machines updated to 20H2 in November) - it was 21H1

Big updates tend to wipe the credentials (which your NAS needs) rather than any software.

One of my machines is on the MS early release program, they send a mail detailing the changes to Windows and MS365. Try a Google search if your really interested in the changes. Most big releases though are security or performance related.

On another note its always a good ides to run CCLeaner (or similar), its free, to tidy up the registry.

I got this lap-top in Nov with windows 10 installed so I might have the update.
People always (some people) said not to have W10 installed. So I ignored all the free uploads I was offered and then, maybe last year, Microsoft stopped 'bothering' with W7/W8? and you either had to pay to get W10 or get a new lap-top.
So, yes, I think I'd be more likely to have updates than I used to be.

I've had this NAS for nearly 13 years and it's the first time it's lost connection. I suppose I should think about investing in a new one - those old hard drives don't last forever.
