How do you say it - I always thought it was by oppic but I just heard it pronounced bio pick. Which is correct?

well bio pic and motel are portmanteau words

a word blending the sounds and combining the meanings of two others, for example motel or brunch.

and the raging question is - - does the contributing word have to be pronounced as such in the portmanteau
