Need Help Putting A Light Together.
15 Answers
Hello, I had the *bright* idea to order 2 sputnik lights from China for our dining room.
There's an assembly video on the advert but it refers to "wires of the same colour are bundled together and inserted into an electrode jack".
I'm assuming this is a poor translation so please could someone look at the video in the advert and tell me what I'm meant to be shoving my wires (politely if possible please)

Thank you x

Strictly illegal!
If you really must use it, simply twist the exposed ends of all the brown cables together and connect to the brown live wire in the ceiling. Do the same to match blue to blue.
Now here's the tricky bit. You need to ensure that the metal casing of the ceiling rose is firmly connected to the green and yellow earth cable. To comply with electrical safety regulations, there should be a socket in the ceiling rose, to push that cable into. It's the absence of such a socket that renders the fitting unsafe and illegal. It's possible to do a bodge job by wrapping the end of the cable around one of the screws that holds the rose to the ceiling but it's definitely not something that I'm recommending!

That company doesn't actually sell anything itself, Mamya. It merely acts as a portal for traders (mainly in China and Singapore) to offer their wares to the public. So it's like a version Amazon that only has the 'marketplace' side to it.
Some of the traders who sell through that site might well be perfectly legitimate and sell safe electrical items (or clothes that are actually as described in their ads, for example) but a large number most definitely aren't!
