According the news Prince Philip's death certificate states he died of old age. Can that be true?

I'm not sure I would be satisfied if 'old age' was given as the cause of death of one of my loved ones but perhaps it is better than a post mortem. Surely I am allowed to ask for opinions and advice on anything I choose? I would have asked the same if it were Joe Blogg's death certificate and not Prince Philip's

people say yes but "old age" isn't actually a condition to cause you to die i know this cause people are older than he was and they are still alive if old age was deadly surely those older should be dead also
maybe his heart just stopped or his brain just turned off behind those things there should be a specific reason like heart failure or brain problem but i can tell you "old age" isn't actually a thing like how can "old age" kill you surely there has to be something that actually happened or an organ that failed you get me

What's all this mullarky over "old age" as a cause of death, it is just an arbitrary cause of death for the over 80,s when there is no other underlying medical cause.
It may or may not be the only cause of death on the certificate or it may be associated with another cause e.g
1) Old Age.
2) Bronchopneumonia.
What is your problem ?

doctors were encouraged NOT to put old age as a cause of death
It may have changed.
all that happened is that the coroner wd snaffle it and do a post mortem and possibly hold an inquest.
I dont regard death certificates as Holy Writ - a lot of people do.
A coroner found a neighbour had codeine on board and did a hooly. I er reminded him codeine was a over the counter drug (!) - and he just went on dancing, From April ( death ) to november when he issued a death cert. complete timer waster
