Starter Pack for TEFL Students

I will be running an evening class this winter and I need to put together a starter pack for the students. they will be already living and probably working in the area, so the usual maps, safety info and night club flyers etc that normally go into packs will not apply. I thought of phonetic alphabet sheet or a guide to pronounciation, but my mind has now gone blank. Any ideas please?

Maybe something with currency - photocopies or drawings of different notes and coins, and their pronunciation? Maybe local taxi firms, bus routes if it's a specific area?
